Menu changes in forScore 15

Modified on Sun, 14 Sep at 12:43 PM

forScore 15 introduces redesigned menus with more clearly defined controls, grid view, and uses modern interface elements in a way that more closely aligns with the system and other third-party apps. Learn more about these changes below:

Segmented Control

The control at the top of most lists was previously used for a variety of different things depending on which menu was visible and whether or not its contents were being edited. In the main menu, it was used to switch between category types or to change how contents were sorted, and changed to provide contextual options when using edit mode.

Now, this control is now used exclusively for switching between different lists. In the main menu, for instance, this includes an All Scores list, Recents, and categories like Composers and Genres.

Sorting

When applicable, sorting options are now presented within a popup menu that can be accessed by tapping the circular ellipsis button in the navigation bar or toolbar.

Editing

Tap the bulleted list icon (three horizontal lines) in the navigation bar or toolbar to toggle edit mode. While editing, this button turns red and the ellipsis button next to it changes so that its popup menu shows contextual options instead. The options shown in this popup menu change based on what you've selected from the list below.

Other Changes

Filters: In some menus, you can use Filters to narrow down the items shown in a list based on one or more rules. The Filters interface was previously accessed by tapping an icon in the search field, but now can be found in the popup menu instead. When filters are in use, this menu includes options to edit them or reset them.

Grid Layout: Many menus now also feature an optional grid layout—use the popup menu to switch between this or the traditional list layout at any time.

Section Headers: When appropriate, menus use section headers to separate content within a list (such as by first letter when sorting alphabetically). In the settings panel, you can hide these section headers if you prefer and on iOS 26 you can also change their style to make them more prominent.
